Intra-oral camera

The old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" could not be more true when using our intra-oral camera. And there's nothing like seeing your tooth blown up the size of a computer screen to see what's really going on! Dr. Loller will use this small video camera to document any conditions of your  teeth, and to discuss your treament options. A well informed patient is able to make a better decision about his or her health.

Air Abrasion

Air abrasion works like a tiny sand-blaster to gently remove areas of decay from the grooves of the back teeth, without the need for a shot or the drill. During the procedure, a fine stream of particles is aimed at the decayed part of the tooth, the decay is blasted away, and the tooth is then filled with a tooth-colored filling. The procedure is relatively simple and quick. Air abrasion works best on shallow areas of decay. The advantages of air abrasion include:

  • Generates no heat, sound, pressure or vibration.
  • Reduces need for anesthesia.
  • Leaves more of the healthy tooth structure behind.
  • Reduces the risk of microfractures and chipping.
  • Allows dentist to treat multiple areas of the mouth in a single visit.

the Wand

We know that some patients get more nervous than others at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. That's where the Wand comes in-- a small, lightweight handpiece that resembles a pen rather than a traditional hypodermic syringe. The Wand provides painless injections for all dental treatments. Because the flow rate of the anesthetic is controlled by a microprocessor, it is more precise and is far more comfortable than with a traditional syringe.
